Beth McCorkle was among a collection of people who spent considerable time in the Montrose City Council chambers this summer, imploring the council not to forward a slate of proposed charter amendments to the November ballot. Now she is a member of a group formally opposing the potential charter amendments. “Two or three weeks before everything was finalized, you know, it was pretty clear what was gonna happen and that these were all gonna be passed, so we started that process, we started the issues committee, we started getting people together to talk about why we needed to oppose these,” McCorkle explained recently Dubbed the Charter Issues Committee, the group has set about Montrose to reach voters before the November election. These efforts are currently in full swing, as evidenced by group’s signage popping up around town. |
