Showing off the Western Slope My family visits town about once a year, not always together, and last weekend was the first time my mom, dad and ittle sister were able to make it out here at the same time. It was also their first winter visit, and they were certainly surpsied to step off the plane to the 60 degree weather we had last Friday. I love hosting visitors, and showing them around town. Everybody's always in awe of the mountain views alone, but they were also impressed by the meals and drinks we got at Shelter, Bluecorn, Urban Hip-E, Sunrise Burritos and Gurus- all some of my favorite places to bring visitors. Of course, we had to get out in the snow. We took a trip up to Cederedge to snowmobile around the Grand Mesa, and it was stunning if more challenging than we expected. As everyone knows, I've been spending as much time on the slopes as possible this season, so I was psyched to take my sister to Telluride on Monday. We got a few inches while we were on the mountain hanging out in Prospect Bowl, and it was so exciting to watch her ski powder for the first time. The skies turned blue toward the end of the afternoon, just in time to show her the See Forever trail. As a snowboarder I loathe few things more than catwalks, but I'll deal with them for her- and the views.
Everyone's back on the East Coast now, and I'm back in the office, but I figured I'd share how much I enjoyed sharing Montrose and the Western Slope with my family.
