Placing a time capsule:
Just a few months after unearthing a time capsule placed 50 years ago, Montrose gave future members of the community their own "blast from the past."
Montrose Youth City Council on Monday placed several items in a 2020 time capsule, set to be unearthed in 2070. In fitting 2020 form, the capsule also included hand sanitizer and toilet paper.

ImagePower outage update: An allegedly impaired driver caused the power outage experienced in Montrose Sunday night, according to Cpt. James Saunders with Colorado State Patrol.
Terry Towner, 62, was driving on Chipeta Road when he struck a guy-wire, at Chipeta and Fruit Park Road, at 7:39 p.m.

Heroes: I think we can all agree that 2020 has been challenging and the countdown to 2021 is just the start of our hopes and aspirations for what 2021 has in store. Despite the challenges, 2020 has also brought forth attention to heroes in our communities. Today, we celebrate National Hero Day and reflect on those role model who continue to give to others when they themselves may not have anything to give.

AQHA World Cup during COVID-19: Riding comes as naturally to Hayley Reed of Montrose as breathing and is a passion she's had since she was little. But the pandemic changed this year's event.

Playing cards: In the 9th century, the Chinese began developing games using money and other paper objects. These early playing cards bear no resemblance to the sturdier European playing cards that emerged a few centuries later.
Card games spread around the world in a variety of shapes and styles. From the elaborate Mamluk designs of Egypt to the appearance of the first playing cards during the Early Renaissance in Europe, the decks were divided into four suits of coins, cups, swords, and sticks or batons. So grab some cards and shuffle the deck in celebration of National Card Playing Day.
