Did you make it to the Black Canyon Classics Car Show this weekend?

If not, you missed out! More than 100 cars, from as far back as 1930, all the way to a bright red Stingray from 2014, were on full display at Cerise Park.

My favorite was a sage-green 1953 Victress. And, although you might not think that a metallic mustard yellow can look sharp, it can! Did you see that lowrider, a 1960 Chevy Parkwood?

It wasn't just cars bringing the nostalgia factor: There were also pin-up girl: many talented women all dolled up in the glam of bygone eras.

The 10 finalists in the pin-up girl contest were quizzed, too. The first question: Is Elvis still alive? I don't recall the contestant's answer, but I can say: The King of Rock 'n Roll is alive in our memories! The ultimate pin-up model for contestants? Marilyn Monroe.

For me, Betty Grable holds sway. (Also, polka-dots or stripes? What a question! The answer is obviously polka-dots, for me.) Much respect to the ladies who participated in the contest!

If you went to the car show, what car was your favorite? We're still waiting to hear about trophy winners, but in in meantime, head on over to NABUR and tell us about it!

- Katharhynn from the newsroom, wishing you many fine summer weekends to come.

Primary time is upon us

Ballots are being mailed out this week for the state primary election. Watch your mailbox!

As a reminder, registered Republicans will receive a Republican Party ballot; registered Democrats receive their party's ballot and those who are unaffiliated receive both ballots — but may only vote one of them.

Mail your ballots back by June 20 in order to ensure the county clerk receives them before 7 p.m. June 28.

Walking through Valley Lawn Cemetery, the grass crunches underneath, crisp in the sun. Vegetation covers information on some markers, like that of an infant girl. When the debris was brushed aside to reveal the dates, the marker poignantly revealed she…
