Fall on the slope...and in the desert Thanks to a pair of Wednesday afternoon meetings, i've missed a few newsletters– but I'm back! I've spent the last few weekends making the most of the gorgeous trails the Western Slope has to offer and doing my best to enjoy fall.
Last weekend, w took a last-minute trip to Moab to watch the eclipse and explore town. It was only my second time out there, and we made the most of our two-day trip...more on that in tomorrow's outdoors section.
With the leaves right around peak, the weekend before last was a perfect time to climb Ouray County's Courthouse Mountain. For a peak under 13,000, it packed a lot of punch, and my legs were shaking by the time we hit the summit. This was also the day of the Ridgway 1k, so we looked at the climb as a bit of a cooldown. Since we ran the race as part of a team forBrown Chicken Crown Cow Ice Cream, it only seemed fitting to rock the costumes on the climb. Even Croche, my buddy's dog, rocket a skunk 'fit for the mountain. A few extra pics from Moab, plus the summit of Courthouse...I'll let y'all figure out which is which. Cheers, Kylea from the newsroom QUICK LINKS |
