From Ukraine with love ...

Jeremy MorrisonImages are powerful. That's what Jordan Campbell is counting on.

Campbell is a documentary filmmaker. He's worked in such war-torn hotspots as Kosovo, Lebanon and South Sudan.

More recently, the documentarian has been in Ukraine. He was there two months after Russia invaded and has been back three times since.

This Thursday, Oct. 19, Campbell will be presenting some his work during a presentation at the Sherbino Performing Arts Theater at 7 p.m. in Ridgway. The event is in partnership with Ridgway Spirit Fest and is a fundraiser aimed at raising money to fund production costs of Campbell's documentary "Ukraine Under Fire: A Film About War & Resilience."

When Jordan Campbell first showed up in Ukraine, the documentary filmmaker was traveling light. A backpack and two suitcases, full of film equipment and body armor.

"It was kind of like the wild West," the documentarian said of his initial visit to Ukraine's war zone.

PREVIEW: Red Hawks to battle Grizzlies with league title at stake

The Mesa Ridge Grizzlies football team will step off the bus from Colorado Springs looking to bag the 4A Southern League title with a win over the Montrose Red Hawks, a feat they were unable to accomplish last season.

The Red Hawks took last season's game by a score of 46-31 enroute to winning league while the Grizzlies finished second. Both teams sport 6-2 overall records and 2-0 league marks entering Friday night's game.
