First of all, Happy Juneteenth to all who celebrate. On a completely different note, I wanted to look back at this weekend's "No Kings" protest, which I photographed and reported on Saturday. I was shocked by the turnout, and when protesters took to Townsend, the line spanned blocks. I couldn't see one end from the other. And whether people agree with what the protesters were saying or not, the day passed largely without incident, as passers by offered support, some boos and a few hand gestures. Some even drove by with their own Trump flags mounted. The only incident, I saw was actually directed at me, as a guy driving by protesters tossed a tobacco tin out of his car, which hit me in the leg. For what it's worth, I was standing next to and interviewing a man at the time whose sign clearly showed he was a veteran. Not a good look, dude. He had the arm strength of a weak child, and I am more amused than offended. I didn't include this incident in our coverage of the event, as I didn't want to unfairly characterize the vastly peaceful, and minimal, opposition the protesters faced that day. But seriously, that was pretty uncool. Cheers, Kylea QUICK LINKS |
