She's makin a list, checkin it twice

Santa and Mrs. Claus are coming to town over the next few weeks to make sure Montrose has a merry Christmas.

Contrary to popular belief, the Mrs. Claus we're getting, however, is Santa's daughter. She also goes by Leah Cole, and I chatted with her last week to get together a preview of the annual Mrs. Claus for a Cause event.

We ran the story in yesterday's paper and on our website, and to summarize, the free event will be held next weekend and include haircuts, activities, and pictures with Santa for the whole community. Children will also get to pick out their own Christmas presents, and there's no financial need required to participate. Cole added families can also join in the festivities without taking toys home if they don't feel they need them.

And, she has a special day reserved on Sunday for families with special needs, so all the boys and girls in town can spend as much time as they need picking out toys and participating in activities.

Leah said her dad (aka the big man) will be stopping by the event, and I've also put in a request with the elves to interview Santa himself. So, if your kids are waiting on a visit from Saint Nick this year, we'll have a story in next week's paper you can show them that will include a Q and A with Claus.

Cheers,
Kylea
