| Tragedy on I-70 Here at the Daily Press, we see and report a lot of things, good and bad. Today is one of the bad ones. Although it happened in Clear Creek County, we are extremely saddened to learn that a person was killed after a snowplow lost control on I-70 this morning. Preliminary info is that the plow hit a pickup, which then hit a car. The plow went on to strike a small van, sending it off the road. The driver of that van did not make it. A minor in the van, which was carrying a hockey team from California, was reported as severely injured, and other on board were taken to hospitals. Today, somebody got a phone call that has upended and shattered their life. Today, other people's lives were terribly altered. We extend our deepest condolences to all affected. Sometimes, there is little you can do to avoid a crash, but most of the time, due caution will keep you safe. Check road conditions at cotrip.org. When in doubt, wait it out. (Photo from CDOT) Heads up: DMV upgrade The state Department of Motor Vehicles is performing a massive digital upgrade in February. What it means: temporary service closures Feb. 13 - 16 statewide. In Montrose County, the closure will extend through Feb. 17 to allow for implementation and training. Details here. |
