Good afternoon, Montrose! I can't believe Christmas is in just over a week. I really need to get my act together and do some Christmas shopping this weekend! This month has flown by.

I'm very excited to spend some time with my family and make classic Christmas foods. One of our favorite holiday foods is krumkakes, a Scandinavian cookie flavored with vanilla and cardamom that's rolled up.

What are some of your favorite Christmas foods? Share your recipes, photos and/or memories with me at annalynnw@montrosepress.com.

The lights are ready: Starting tonight, you can go see the lights at the Montrose Botanic Gardens, which will also be open Dec. 18-19, 22-23 and 26-27 from 5:30 – 8:30 p.m. Josue Perez got a sneak peak of the lights last weekend. Here's a cute pic of a friendly, illuminated bear:

Admission is $5 for adults, $12 for a family of four (up to two adults), children 4 and younger get in for free and children 5 – 18 years costs $3. The price to get in includes horse-drawn carriage rides and hot cocoa.

Centennial mascot committee discusses 'Braves' replacement: The new mascot for Montrose High School is getting most of the limelight, but a team of Centennial parents, teachers and one student is working to also replace the Braves mascot.

The committee will likely select a mascot that starts with a B, because the gym floor was re-done recently with a large B in the center of the gym.
