Time, time — it is a'changing Happy Spring, from Katharhynn and the rest of the newsroom! I weighed in last week on NABUR about Daylight Saving Time and a bill that recently cleared the Senate. If it passes the House — and indications are it will — DST will become permanent year-round. I'm not a fan. If anything should become permanent, it ought to be Standard Time, and I've got my reasons. It's just that other folks, who are in vehement support of permanent DST, have their reasons, too. Head on over to NABUR, here, and weigh in. In the meantime, enjoy spring and pray for rain!
New national park A few weeks back, we mentioned the 80th anniversary of FDR's executive order that was used to imprison thousands of Japanese Americans for no reason other than their race. We spoke of Colorado's internment camp, Amache, in Granada. Since then, readers have drawn my attention to reports that some Japanese Americans may have been detained in Montrose County. We're still looking into that, but the big news is ... Amache just became America's newest national park! (Interior Secretary Deb Haaland, left/center, with a survivor of Amache, and U.S. Rep. Joe Neguse and U.S. Sen. Michael Bennet, at Amache in February. Photo courtesy USDOI)
TAKE NOTE: Beginning Saturday, March 26, the Montrose Daily Press will be distributed to some subscribers via the United States Postal Service in an effort to more consistently deliver your newspaper. Montrose County subscribers can expect newspapers to be delivered the same day as publication via mail.
