FOOD: Thinking outside the guac
There is much to adore about the avocado. It's creamy as mayonnaise, with a mild nutty flavor, and full of nutrients, all of which help explain why avocado consumption in the U.S. has increased five-fold in the last 25 years.

I'll be out and about at two places tonight.

First I'm going to head over to the Montrose County Event Center to attend the Planning Commission hearing on the proposed gravel pit expansion near Maple Grove and 58.75 Rd.

The 10 acre pit hearing that started on Dec 15 drew a large enough crowd that the county decided to move the meeting to the Event Center.

After two hours of public comment that night the commission moved to continue the meeting until tonight. We'll have the full story in Saturday's edition.
If you want to read more about the first meeting here's the link.

Tonight is also senior night for the Montrose Wrestling team. They have a dual against Delta.

It's possibly Darmian Lopez's last night in front of the home crowd unless Montrose gets to host the regionals.

Lopez is the defending State Champion in the 285 weight class. He won't get to wrestle tonight because Delta doesn't field a wrestler for that weight.

I'll be there for selfish reasons as well. My grandson Jordyn wrestles for Delta JV at 144. If you see me at either event feel free to say hello.
