Happy hump day, Cassie from the newsroom here feeling a little bittersweet.

Next Friday will be my last day reporting for the Montrose Daily Press and I'm certainly going to miss my first journalism post following college.

I've gained a wealth of knowledge during my two years here, but I've also met the most amazing people in our community. I'm truly inspired by how artistic, kind and generous our community can be. But don't worry, I won't be far! I'll still report, just in another capacity.

In better news (but still bittersweet), you likely know of Bill Harris, or at least his name. Bill has been a long-time contributor to the Daily Press but he's a force of nature (quite literally) in the overall Montrose community. He's done inexplicable amounts of work on our region's trails (including designing and building them) and founded the Colorado Plateau Mountain Bike Trail Association. Bill worked as a nurse before it was more acceptable for men to join the profession.

All in all, after speaking with his friends, Bill more than deserved dozens of his friends and peers honoring him for his 33 years of service last month. It seems the question remaining with his retirement now is how to fill the gaps left behind by someone like Bill Harris?

You can read the story online or in print tomorrow, so keep an eye out!

Have a great evening, Montrose! See ya tomorrow ☀️
