Feeling the chill in Telluride Not a literal chill, mind you — Telluride was unseasonably warm on Saturday, when I headed up for the Telluride Horror Show. I've been wanting to go for a few years now, and this time, I could. It was a great vibe, beautiful scenery (obviously!) and some pretty interesting flicks. If you planned your time, you could hit a series of short films in between feature-lengths, cruise down to the Elks Lodge to meet horror authors, or just hang out. I learned the hard way: Plan to make a day (or three) of it, otherwise, you'll be limited to just a few events. I'm not complaining, though. The acting and writing in "A Desert" were superb and there was nothing like sitting way up in the balcony of the Sheridan Opera House Saturday evening to watch Jordon Foss' take on the teen slasher genre, "Black Spines." (Neither was for the faint of heart, albeit for different reasons.) And, hey — on my way back to parking late that night, I encountered a black cat. It was friendly! — Katharhynn, from the newsroom, purring her way through Monday. Spooky season is upon us Miss the Horror Show? Not to worry. There's plenty of local Halloween-time fun afoot. Check it out here. This year, Witch's Night Out is part of a three-day All Hallows Festival at Cerise Park. |
