Hello again, Montrose and beyond! We are back on the newsletter path after a hiatus following our change in ownership.
Welcome back, e-letter readers. You’ll find in-depth coverage of the brewing controversy at the Montrose County School District, over the board majority’s decision to place to superintendent on “non-punitive leave,” pending an investigation. Here, here. Publisher's opinion: here. Superintendent's letter: here
Also, you’ll find coverage of the Pride Month proclamation controversy, arising from the majority of Montrose City Council voting against issuing the proclamation, which has been issued by past councils.
Plus, you can read about efforts to establish a health service district for the far-flung West End, the end goal of which is to create a critical access hospital for Nucla, Naturita, Redvale, Paradox, Bedrock and other communities that are about 90 minutes or more from hospital care in Montrose. Not everyone is convinced that it’s the way to go: you can read about it by clicking the link in the newsletter below, or in print on Wednesday.
Kath’s pick: If you have the time to sit down to read something fun and interesting, check out Kylea Henseler’s “Evangelizing for Earth,” featuring evangelical preacher Jessica Moerman and her mission through Evangelical Environmental Network. It's a good one!
