A Time to Dance previews Winter Showcase

Singing through a mask: The choral sounds that echo through the halls around the choir room at Montrose High School have sounded different since last March. Students are required to wear face masks while on campus, and performing in choir class is no exception. Add the face coverings, a drop in program enrollment and a lack of any public performances allowed and Choral Director Monica Phillips had a unique situation that required her to change her approach to teaching. New shops: It's no secret the downtown area in Montrose experienced a significant lull shortly after the pandemic forced heavy restrictions on businesses in the community, as well as those around Colorado. Despite this, the area hasn't lost its appeal. Downtown has been infused with a slew of new businesses in the past few months. Writing longhand: Technology has made the ease of communication quicker, but there is something to be said about grabbing a pen and paper to write something down. Today is National Handwriting Day which celebrates pen and paper by encouraging us to write out our thoughts. January 23 was selected in honor of John Hancock's birthday and his bold signature that is so recognizable.
