Good Afternoon, Montrose! In February, when I told my sister that I wanted to go to see Snoop Dogg in Grand Junction, she didn't believe me at first: why would this internationally known rapper and performance artist put on a concert in Western Colorado?

I don't know Snoop Dogg (or his publicist), so I may never know the answer to that question. Does it really matter, though?

I've been eagerly anticipating this concert since I heard about it in February and it's finally happening this weekend. It's outside, so I'm hoping that the weather is one of those perfect Colorado spring days where there may be a slight nip in the air but the sun is shining.

I hope everybody else has a fantastic weekend!

Just horsin' around

Earlier this week, I visited the Metaphorse Growth and Healing Center on the outskirts of town, where the owners offer riding lessons and equine experiential learning to connect and grow with horses.

Spending time with the horses — or, "gentle giants" — can be a soothing escape from the anxieties of the world.

I had a great time hanging out with horses for the afternoon, who were super sweet and gentle. I kept trying to take a photo of this one, but he just wanted to get closer to me!

They recently got non-profit status and are hosting their first fundraiser at Precedence on Main Street tomorrow evening.

How a commercial kitchen on the West End is thriving

When a commercial kitchen first opened on the West End in 2016, people didn't know how it would do. But over time, the kitchen has served as an incubator for small businesses and entrepreneurs from all over the southwest region of Colorado.

There's another commercial kitchen planned in Olathe with a $1.7 million grant from the USDA that Region 10 applied for. Many community leaders are excited about the potential for the facility on this side of the county.

Aurora Borealis spotted in Colorado!

Image

On Wednesday night, several photographers in Colorado captured the pink-ish lights in the sky, often only seen at northern latitudes.

The colorful lights in the sky are caused by flares from the sun that affect the earth's magnetic field. It blows my mind that a celestial object 93 million miles away from us can do something like that! (Gravity is pretty cool, too, I guess…)
