Happy Wednesday! Students learned some "adulting" skills this morning at Montrose High School, during a financial literacy fair. Students went to booths around the gym and got information about how to be responsible with money when it comes to housing, household needs, entertainment and more. Below is a look at the scene. This is Justin here, with a few notes from the newsroom.
On This Day
In 1964, Sidney Poitier became the first Black performer in a leading role to win an Academy Award, for his acting in "Lilies of the Field."
In 1970, Apollo 13, four-fifths of the way to the moon, was crippled when a tank containing liquid oxygen burst. (The astronauts managed to return safely.)
In 1997, Tiger Woods became the youngest player to win the Masters and the first player with partial African heritage to win a major tournament.
It's official. Colorado State Senator and Montrose local Don Coram will be on the Republican ballot, challenging U.S. Rep. Lauren Boebert for the Third Congressional District. "If I didn't think I could win, I wouldn't have done it," Coram told MDP writer Katharhynn Heidelberg earlier this week.
