Economics Last week I spent some time with the One Delta County economic development team including at CMU Professor Dr. Nathan Perry's economic update breakfast. He presents in Delta twice a year. He made a note that while Montrose and Grand Junction are seeing economic growth, Delta is holding steady. Perry's information is very insightful. A couple of tidbits. Dr. Perry believes from the data that housing prices will fall but not crash. The data tells him that we'll be back to 2019 prices soon. While some are clamoring to increase oil and gas production, Dr. Perry points out that through his conversations with executives in the field one of their biggest issues is finding workers. "Drill baby drill!" needs workers to work. Last Wednesday evening I spent time at the Grand Mesa Arts and Event Center in Cedaredge. There is a gallery showing of Ouray's Cie Hoover's hand crafted work. It was quite stunning. The "Branching Out" series is on display until Nov 7. Here's the GMAEC's calendar for other events as well. I missed out on John Oates, formerly of Hall and Oates, who performed a couple of months ago. The piece below is from Hoover. Price tag: $20K There's lots of uses for newsprint end rolls and we have plenty on hand. Cost is $5 per roll. Call the MDP office at (970)249-3444 if you need some or just stop by our office at 3684 N Townsend Ave between the hours of 9am-4pm. Also behind our press facility at 420 Kristen Ct in Montrose we have wooden pallets. Feel free to come by and take what you need. Did you know that we print community newspapers from Moab to Silverton and all points in between including the Grand Junction Daily Sentinel and it's products? Here's a picture of the end rolls and pallets.
Final note: I stopped by the House of Spirits today to check on their staff after their terrifying experience with an armed robber over the weekend. Fortunately everyone is okay. I linked the story below if you want the details. — Dennis Anderson Publisher
