Happy November, Montrose!
Election day is just around the corner (next Tuesday), bringing to a head a substantially contentious election season.

Major seats up for voter approval next week include the gubernatorial seat (Jared Polis v. Heidi Ganahl) and the Secretary of State (Jena Griswold vs. Pam Anderson).

Our own district (D3) representative Lauren Boebert is challenged by moderate Democrat Adam Frisch, who previously served on the Aspen City Council.

Also included are a slew of Montrose County officials and state judges that voters can approve to retain position.

But there are 11 (yes, eleven) ballot measures for us to consider. I've found the Ballot Informational Booklet (Blue Book) to be a helpful resource when trying to understand each measure. Another invaluable resource has been the Colorado Public Radio (CPR) voter guide and their accompanying podcast episode where they break down each measure. They have an entire episode dedicated to the housing measure.

Issues such as free lunches for all public school students, third-party delivery and retail sale of alcoholic beverages and state funding for affordable housing are all on this year's ballot. There are several hard-hitting measures this year!

Have you reviewed the Blue Book yet? I'd love to hear your thoughts on the 11 measures we'll be voting on next Tuesday. You can email me at cassiek@montrosepress.com

Until tomorrow!

- From the newsroom, Cassie
