If you'rve been reading any of my newsletters lately, it's obvious that I love winter, for one reason and one reason only. In fact, I don't bother taking my ski jacket or pants out of my car anymore, because it's easier to just keep all my gear ready to go. But, when I'm not on the slopes, I hate being cold, and I'm really not one for cold weather fashions. Dressing for the seasons is a girl thing, and I'm just not a winter fashion girl. However, the bright side of the snow slowly melting is that I can break out the sundresses, skirts, and sandals. I'm in the process of revamping my spring and summer wardrobe, and as such I've been doing lots of shopping around town. Given the quality of affordable new clothes these days, I try my best to hunt down as many high-quality secondhand finds as possible. I mean, what's the point of paying full price online for polyester that may not fit? Instead, I've been finding plenty of good stuff close to home. Just downtown, Mosaic has a wonderfully curated and reasonably priced selection of vintage clothes dating back to the mid-1900s, and I just have to stop by and browse whenever I'm on Main Street. And, with Goodwill opening near Walmart, I'm sure there's plenty of diamonds in the rough to be found there too. Up in Delta, I was also pleasantly surprised last week when I dropped off some clothes at Consignment Boutique on Main. There was so much high-quality stuff in there, including multiple real fur coats for good prices. If I'd seen them before winter, I definitely would have left with one. Just a few doors down, Delta's Heirlooms for Hospice (which also has a shop on Main Street here) had a pretty big selection as well, with a whole section dedicated to vintage and some really great finds that I was sad to put down. So, if you're also in shopping mode, consider looking local before buying online- there's plenty to be found! Cheers, Kylea from the newsroom |
