MCSD administrator warns school board of 'insidious erosion of norms,' suggests booting Balleck from president's seat; Valerio warns Pavlich to ‘remain cognizant of your role’; Special meeting scheduled for July 21 The scholastic calendar can get quieter in between semesters, during this lazy lull of summer. But this season has been anything but for the Montrose County School District, where the superintendent lingers in paid-leave limbo while the school board and its ever-present attorney weather community concerns in bunker mode. This week, with no school board meetings on the calendar until August, board member Jody Hovde decided to host her own forum to facilitate discussions regarding issues in the district. One attendee summed up a prevailing sentiment in the community as students prepare to begin fall semester: “I’m afraid we’re starting a school year in turmoil.” This was similar to the sentiment expressed in a recent letter from Executive Director of Operations James Pavlich to the MCSD Board of Education, in which he outlined a number of concerns and recommendations — bemoaning “all this chaos” and “insidious erosion of norms and organizational structure.” Read More The Fair loves a parade!
