Brotherhood and big air; hunger hits West End; Dolly

One of life's good guys I'm borrowing from our columnist and former publisher Stephen Woody here. There was no better way to describe Mke Trickey, who spearheaded the Welcome Home Alliance for Veterans for several years, and also was a driving force behind the Montrose Veterans Memorial Coalition's success in funding a dedicated memorial plaza/park for our fallen. The park broke ground a few months ago, near the Pavilion. Mike was there, front and center.  Now, he's gone on. Mike passed away on Aug. 17, leaving behind his loving family, devoted friends, fellow veterans, and an entire community that was the better for him having lived. People gathered at Grand View Cemetery Friday, for Mike's final send off, complete with well-earned military honors. I miss you, Mike. Rest in peace. — Katharhynn, from the Newsroom.
