Gay rights case? A Colorado company named 303 Creative made its case yesterday to the US Supreme Court that it shouldn't have to design a wedding website for a same-sex couple. Colorado Public Radio covered the case here. Nobody is asking 303 Creative to create such a website. But they've sued the state over it's Anti-discrimination Act. Much to the chagrin of Colorado Attorney General, Phil Weiser, who would rather wait for the court to act when someone actually brings a case against 303 Creative.
From a couple of podcasts I've listened to on the case, and from reading the CPR story, it appears the judges threw out some odd scenarios to the lawyers to defend their positions. I'll have to listen to the arguments soon. The audio is just under two hours and thirty minutes. Here's the link if you want to listen to the case that was argued yesterday.
This should make for a very interesting op-ed. Here was the subject line from CPR in their newsletter - Supreme Court hears Colorado gay rights case. It seems to me it would be more appropriate to label this as an artistic rights case.
