Pueblo cans abortion ordinance, sort of anyway.
According to Colorado Politics on Monday night the Pueblo City Council voted to indefinitely table an ordinance that would have banned abortions within the city limits.
Because in Council President Heather Graham's eyes, the State has the authority to regulate abortions and not city council, she made the motion to table.
The vote to table was 4-3. Over 100 people both for and against were set to speak but because it was tabled none did.
The ordinance was drafted with the help of Texas Pastor Mark Lee Dickson. He has successfully assisted in passing such ordinances in 60 municipalities. 48 are located in Texas including Lubbock as his largest so far.
According to the Colorado Politics' story there were the following exceptions to the proposed ordinance, "fertilization treatments, saving a baby's life, removing a dead "unborn child," ectopic pregnancies and emergency contraception like Plan B medication."
It would have outlawed the use of computers to order equipment to perform an abortion and knowingly receiving items in the mail.

Also from Colorado Politics, Grand Junction Lawyer, Gordon P. Gallagher has appeared in front of the U.S. Senate Committee on the Judiciary making his case to represent the Western Slope on Colorado's federal trial court.
He is Biden's nominee to sit on the seven-member U.S District Court.
Here's the story if you would like more details.

Katharhynn included this in her newsletter yesterday but it's worth repeating.

Yep — it's December in the Rocky Mountains. Through mid-week, snow expected to hit the higher elevations and even make things dicey down here in the valley, travel-wise.

CDOT is reminding all motorists to be aware of heavy snowfall predicted for the mountains all around us, from Monarch Pass to Molas and Wolf Creek, and to plan your trip according. Visit cotrip.org for updated road conditions. Avoid travel if you can; carry supplies, warm clothing, water and snow chains if you truly have to go.

And don't be afraid to pull over. About four years ago, I tried Monarch, undeterred by the 6 inches of snow standing on the pass. In a Hyundai Accent. This, shall we say, was a bad decision. Thanks to others on the road, I made it safely to Gunnison, but don't be like me — avoid getting in a bind in the first place.
