I blinked and it was a blizzard outside.

Cassie from the newsroom here, eating some raspberry sorbet during a snowstorm (we all have our weird quirks).

It's funny thinking about how Texans grow up joking about experiencing multiple seasons throughout a day...I walked outside in short sleeves earlier this afternoon perfectly comfortable only to be greeted by a snowstorm at 5 p.m. Mother Nature is truly a fickle thing!

If you're like me and have plans to travel this weekend, CDOT recommends planning for additional travel time, especially around the afternoons. It's even ideal to leave in the mornings to avoid the inevitable high volume of traffic due to the New Year's weekend.

In the meantime, did you get a good photo of the snow before the sun went down? I'd love to see your photos! You can reach me at cassiek@montrosepress.com

Stay safe, stay warm and do something relaxing!
