The weather outside is frightful | From the Newsroom

The weather outside is looking a little frightful.

The bomb cycle hitting vast areas throughout the middle states is considered by forecasters a "once-in-a-generation storm," upending thousands of flights and holiday plans this weekend. Conditions have become life-threatening enough that the governor called in the national guard on Tuesday.

We're much luckier here in Montrose, but temps are still freezing. That means Lighthouse (the winter shelter located in the Tuxedo Corn) is expecting an influx of people seeking a bed this week/end.

One of the shelter's core organizers, Garey Martinez, spoke with me today about the shelter's struggle to find funding as they try to pay bills and basic utilities. If you're interested in donating to the winter shelter, you can reach Garey at 970-433-3690.

I hope you all have a safe, warm and Merry Christmas!

Jingle on,

Cassie
