It's that time again — already!

Ready or not, here comes Christmas!

If you're not already in the spirit, the giving spirit of this community might help you get there. It's on display when law enforcement take needy kids shopping (Heroes for Kids); when Leah Cole doubles as "Mrs. Claus" with a cause (to help kids and special-needs community members have a Merry Christmas) — and it's also on display when hardship strikes.

On Friday afternoon, a Montrose family with three kids lost their home to an electrical fire that rendered it uninhabitable. Community members, churches, and Walmart came together to try to get this family what they needed. We're still waiting for more information as to the family's current needs and hope to update you soon.

Wherever you are, and however you celebrate, this is Katharhynn from the newsroom wishing you the best this season. I'll be nipping out for a bit starting Friday, to go celebrate with my family. The doings include a birthday shindig on the first. (A tiara will be involved, because I am ridiculous).

Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, blessed solstice and Happy New Year!
