FREE ICE CREAM: Shout out to Michael, a manager at McDonald's in Montrose who gave Kylie Davis a stack of free ice cream coupons as rewards for her students. Davis is a speech therapist at Oak Grove Elementary School. She wanted to reward her students for making progress while distance learning with ice cream. After pulling up through the drive-thru and sharing her story, Michael asked her to pull around to the parking lot. He handed her a stack of free cone coupons, asking for no payment.
"He's happy to help our schools any way he can," Davis said. I was really touched by Michael's willingness to help and generosity toward our school and my students."
Students will receive a card as a reward for participating in virtual therapy sessions and meeting their IEP goals and objectives for speech therapy.
"It's really meaningful to be able to give my students something tangible, even though we are connecting virtually more often this year."
