A bad idea ... I cover a lot of crime, but sometimes, a story comes along that makes even a hardbitten journo say "Really?!" The Washington Post reports that a Michigan woman attempted to hire a hitman online. The name of the site? "RentAHitman.com." Now, you're probably ahead of me here, but it turns out you can't actually rent an assassin. The site's run by Bob Innes, who passes along serious inquiries to law enforcement. As a result, the woman was busted and her intended target, her ex-husband, is safe. One wonders at the credulity of some folks, given that the site described "HIPAA" as "the Hitman Information Privacy & Protection Act of the Healthcare of 1964," instead of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996. Katharhynn from the newsroom here, reminding you to read the fine print (and of course, to never attempt to hire a hitman, for any reason).
Hitting the high notes: If you missed the Native American Heritage Month celebration at the Ute Indian Museum on Sunday, you missed a good time — and fry bread! Here, Bobby Jimenez of Olathe plays the clay flute he snagged decades ago for all of $5, from a shopkeeper who wasn't aware of what she had. When he told her, she stood by her word and kept the deal.
Are you ready for turkey? Thanksgiving is upon us! We're wishing everyone a safe, happy holiday, full of good times and good food. As an FYI, this year, there will not be a Thanksgiving Day paper.
