Hi and hello! Cassie here with your daily newsletter.
Happy Tuesday, I can't be the only one loving this cloudy, fall weather.

Because I've been in an especially artsy mood lately, here's a fun fact for you: Did you know that art used to be a part of the Olympics?

The concept of exercising both the mind and the body in congruence dates back as early as the Greek Olympic games, but when modern games emerged in 1896, Pierre de Coubertin was a strong advocate for uniting athletes, artists and spectators.

Art was featured in Olympic games from 1912 - 1948, with medals in architecture, literature, musical composition, painting and sculpture.

While the International Olympic Committee hasn't reinstated the fusion of art with the games, they work closely with different players and partners to support the production of art and culture during and between games.

But personally, I would love to see art return to the playing field! What do you think? You can shoot me an email at cassiek@montrosepress.com to share your thoughts.

~ Cass

DMEA/Elevate payment portals still down: The cooperative has been knee-deep, as Katharhynn put it, in a forensic investigation.

Although the payment processing system is affected, along with DMEA's phone and email system, the co-op is still able to batch and deposit payments received by mail or in its drop boxes. These will be retroactively applied to accounts when the network is restored. Be sure to include payment stub from bill or a note with account information.

In Montrose, payment drop boxes are located at both City Markets and at Safeway. There are also drop boxes in Paonia at Don's Market; at the Cedaredge Mercantile, and outside of the Montrose and Delta offices — 11925 6300 Road in Montrose and the Read Service Center, 21191 H75 Road, Delta.

You can follow the story here as updates continue to come in.

Thursday is Children's Grief Awareness Day: Grief is a complex and sensitive subject for anyone, but it's especially intricate for children. HopeWest in both Montrose and Delta are hosting an "business after hours" event this Thursday at each county's respective Heirlooms for Hospice store.

Each county will have a "hope tree" where community members are encouraged to leave supportive notes for grieving children or children who have experienced loss, but each respective event will look a little different.

Keep an eye out for the full story tomorrow!
