Hi friends and neighbors! Happy Thursday, we're nearly to the weekend! I had the opportunity to visit Moab for the first time last weekend and not for the last time, was I blown away at the views. Unfortunately I didn't get to see the infamous arches, but I did come across this one while walking through Canyonlands! I also learned very quickly not to underestimate how much water you'll need out there. Do you have any favorite spots in Utah? I'd love to hear them!
A water line broke last night at Miami and Stanford last night, but it's all patched up now: Bolt corrosion on a valve caused the line to break apart, City Utility Manager David Bries told me today. He said the incident was reported to the city around 7 p.m. last night.
Let's ride a bike...and learn some ag while we're at it A timed bike ride slated to feature both 34-mile and 57-mile routes will weave riders through Montrose fields and farms as Valley Food Partnership seeks to connect locals with agriculture. The Crop Duster fundraising event, sponsored by Alpine Bank, is now open for registration ahead of the Sept.17 bike tour of local farmland.
According to Penelope Powell, Valley Food Partnership (VFP) executive director, the first-time event is an opportunity to reconnect with the community following pandemic shutdowns. The nonprofit hopes to raise $30,000 from the new fundraiser. Interested? Registration can be found at https://bit.ly/cropdustervfp Tickets to the Cerise Park feast and after-party can be purchased at www.valleyfoodpartnership.org. After party entry for nonriders is $20. Kids under the age of 12 can attend free of charge.
Basecamp Apartments housing update: After speaking with City Engineer Scott Murphy today, I learned that the housing project is looking to wrap up its public infrastructure side this week and move onto the private infrastructure portion. We're looking at the first of the four buildings wrapping up and ready for opening this fall, hopefully September. The developer, Kurt Soukup, was unable for comment today, but we're working on a more detailed update for you.
