Hi friends and neighbors!

It's Cassie here with your hump day newsletter.

It's probably not news to you that we're seeing escalating levels in our country's housing crisis, with costs rising and fewer people able to rent or buy according to their needs.

As such, Montrose city councilors unanimously approved nearly $48,900 yesterday toward a housing needs assessment contractor (Points Consulting).

The study will include demographic data, including people with disabilities, older adults and people experiencing homelessness. People using transitional, rapid and supportive housing will also be included in the study.

Councilwoman Barbara Bynum, who participated in a similar study on childcare needs last year, said that while we already know our community has a housing need, a study would allow the city and community to make "data-driven" decisions, particularly when it comes to grant applications.

Keep an eye out for the full story tomorrow!

Here's a science fact that sounds grossly wrong:
There are more trees on earth (300-400 trillion) than stars (100-400 billion) in the Milky Way.
