Tina Peters set to receive a refund

Embattled former Mesa County Clerk Tina Peters is set to receive a refund for her recount of her contested bid for CO Secretary of State.

Peters paid $255,912 for the recount. According the Charles Ashby of the Daily Sentinel, Peters will receive a refund of $137,283 because the recount cost much less. The money was held in an escrow account and will be turned over to Peters. Here's the full story.

Peters garnered more votes than her opponents in the August primary in Montrose and Delta County, despite being indicted on several election related charges from tampering to identity theft. She lost the statewide race.

Because of the national attention the Georgia Senate race is receiving, I watched the debate between incumbent Raphael Warnock and challenger Herschel Walker.

The race is reportedly a tight one.

I spent nine years of my childhood in Augusta, GA and became a Georgia Bulldogs fan. Walker and I are the same age. While I was in the Army stationed in Germany, Walker's exploits on the gridiron were a welcome distraction. Walker was a man amongst boys.

Over the years his mental health issues came to light, and Warnock tried to make it an issue in the debate. Walker was refreshingly open about his struggles and says his last episode was years ago.

The national coverage has Walker losing the debate, but I believe at a minimum he held his own or actually won. Walker seemed to have a very clear answer to the moderators questions, and his rebuttals to Warnock's jabs were spot on.
