It's that time again ... .... Already! It's officially autumn, and that means it's time to cruise the backroads and high country — or even walk your local neighborhood — to check out the leaf-change. "Color Sunday" was Sept. 22, but there is still time, since colors hadn't really begun popping much then, at least, not where I went over the last weekend. We headed up McClure Pass, on the way to the state parks by Rifle, and although it was half green, half fall colors, it was gorgeous! (What a surprise.) We saw plenty of people pulled over, getting that perfect shot. Speaking of which, it's your public service reminder to drive safely and be mindful that people ahead of you may be slowing down or pulling over, or that as you round the bend, there may be people close to the side of the road. Also, folks checking out nature's seasonal clothing change need to be mindful of traffic. Be safe, everyone! — Katharhynn, from the newsroom (Here os a decidedly imperfect shot, from Redstone) Hooray for the 'Hawks! Congratulations to the Montrose Red Hawks for the homecoming win over Grand Junction Central! It's always extra-nice to win on the home field, and the team brought their A game. Lots of spirit, too, at the parade. Here's a look. (Joseph Harold/Special to the MDP) |
