It's that dealightful time of year... When it's sunny during the day, perfect sleeping weather at night, and a special kind of beautiful outside as the leaves start turning. In this week's outdoor section, we highlight a few unique ways to experience the foliage- and trust me, the Telluride Via Feratta is at the top of my personal to-do list. But aside from embracing an incredible backdrop for outdoor activites, one of the best ways to experience the season is to celebrate our local producers. A few shots from Harvest Festivals past (Screenshot/Facebook) This weekend, Harvest Fest in Paonia will bring together farmers, ranchers, artists, wineries, musicians, cider makers and more from all over the valley. Closer to home, another celebration is going down that we didn't have time to include in this week's arts and entertainment section- but it looks delicous. On Saturday, Olathe's Triple M Orchards is hosting its Fifth Annual Golden Delicious Pie Baking Festival, and the event will feature hayrides, U-pick, local fruit for sale, a cider-making demonstration and, of course, a pie-baking contest. It runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, and will take place at the orchard on 6201 5800 Road. For the libation-minded, Oktoberfest on Saturday and San Juan Barrel Fest on Sunday in Ridgway also offer ample opportunity to sample local spirits. So, get outside, experience the season and try some local products. And, of course, Happy Fall! Cheers, Kylea from the newsroo QUICK LINKS |
