A sneak peek at tomorrow's print edition …

In tomorrow's print edition of the Montrose Daily Press, you can read about how Montrose County Sheriff Gene Lillard is again pressing for county commissioners' blessing to join the Fire and Police Pension Association; and also about how San Miguel County Sheriff Bill Masters thinks a recent presidential executive order is an attempt to federalize local law enforcement and intimidate the agencies into coordinating on immigration efforts with the threat of withholding federal funding.

Also in tomorrow's print edition (or, right now online), you can read about the local participation in the wider national protest movement, this time centered on May Day; as well as about local opportunities to learn about backcountry safety.

Hope you enjoy the paper, tomorrow in print and online everyday at montrosepress.com

TIPS FROM THE POSSE: Short-Horned Lizard

The greater short-horned lizard goes by the street name Phrynosoma hernandesi. He is widely distributed from southern Alberta, to Mexico, east to portions of Nebraska, and west to portions of Oregon. In Colorado, he inhabits much of the eastern plains and the entire western slope. The hernandesi in his name is in honor of a Spanish physician named Francisco Hernandez. Dr. Hernandez wrote an early account of a horned lizard, which was published in 1615. Many people wrongly call him a "horny toad," but these animals are actually lizards, which is a type of reptile. Toads, on the other hand, are an amphibian.
