Dr. Deja Vu: Montrose appoints health director previously moved to interim position ... The Montrose County Board of County Commissioners today (re)appointed Mirza Ahmed as the county's public health director. It's a position Ahmed already held for a hot minute, prior to commissioners relegating him to an interim position. Here's the short version: though all three commissioners approved Ahmed as health director, soon thereafter commissioners Scott Mijares and Sean Pond leaned into concerns raised by some members of the public — among them, concerns about Ahmed's time with the Word Health Organization and his citizenship — and decided to punt the new health director into an interim position. When Mijares and Pond, along with Commissioner Sue Hansen, decided Wednesday to appoint Ahmed as director again, no rationale or explanation for the appointment or the preceding events was immediately provided. That's the short version. You can read Katharhynn's long version here: After 2 months of outcry and tension, commissioners again name Ahmed as public health director Have a Good One, Jeremy Morrison, managing editor jeremy.morrison@montrosepress.com QUICK LINKS |
