Montrose's downtown smorgasbord returns ...

Feel like heading out for some food, but not sure where to go? Tomorrow evening, you can go out to eat without deciding where — at least not until you get there.

The Montrose Truck Stop events are making a return for summer this week, beginning tomorrow (June 19) and continuing the first Thursday of July and August. The food truck rallies — kicking off at 5 p.m. and located downtown near 312 N. 1st St.— feature an eclectic mix of culinary offerings, and are intended to create an energy and draw for downtown.
"We wanted to bring it back this year after seeing how successful it was, " DART Coordinator Michelle Wingfield told the Daily Press's Kylea Henseler this week.
You can read Kylea's story — Food truck rallies roll again — to learn more about tomorrow's event.

The Ouray International Film Festival isn't just for movie die-hards: Founders focus on intimate, not intimidating festival

Of course, die-hard film fanatics are welcome and beloved at the Ouray International Film Festival. But, co-founder Jake Abell doesn't want his event associated with the pretentiousness that can sometimes plague the film world. For him, the focus is promoting exciting films, not exclusivity, and first-time festival goers are welcomed with open arms.
This year's festival is a four-day affair running from Thursday, June 19 to Sunday, June 22 at the Wright Opera House in Ouray

Re-imagining the 'ugliest alley in Montrose': First DART-supported mural brightens up downtown, more are in the pipeline

Kevin and Gabrielle Clay used to call the alley behind their building at 431 E. Main St. "the ugliest alley in Montrose."
Now, with a few (well, a lot of) brush strokes and some help from the city, Kevin said "I think it's the most beautiful."
Last Thursday, the Clays, the city and artist Jesse Melanson celebrated the completion of a big, brand new mural behind the building made possible by the Development and Revitalization Team's mural grant program.

The mural, a vibrant depiction of prismatic birds, butterflies and flowers, is the first to be completed under the process.
