Bad news

I never want to start out a Monday, or a newsletter, as the bearer of bad news.

Unfortunately, on Sunday, two people were shot in Delta, and the fate of the person suspected of involvement in the shooting has not been confirmed. This happened on G96 Road in Delta Sunday morning: police there say two people were found with gunshot wounds and, at the time, another person was barricaded in the home. More details were expected late this afternoon, and you can check montrosepress.com for them, as well as Wednesday's edition. Here is the initial report, reflecting information available as of this morning.

On Monday morning, a small aircraft crashed near Montrose Regional Airport, with significant and obvious damage, Undersheriff George Jackson said. (It was initially reported to us that it had taken place southwest of the airport, which is why the headline of our Facebook post says that. This is the nature of breaking news.) At the time of this writing, there was not much more information, but you can read our initial report here.

The Daily Press extends its best wishes to everyone touched by this crash, as well as the shooting incident in Delta.
