A sneak peek at tomorrow's print edition …

In tomorrow's print edition of the Montrose Daily Press, you can read about the decommissioned Huey helicopter recently installed at Veterans Memorial Plaza near the Montrose Pavilion, which honors former county sheriff and commissioner Rick Dunlap, who died earlier this year and also served as a door gunner on a similar helicopter during the conflict in Vietnam; you will also read about additional arrests made in a shooting incident that occurred earlier this month that left a man injured — an incident Montrose's police chief says should be a community wake-up call; and you'll also read about local sports — such as the MHS football team's 49-8 homecoming game victory — as well as about the MHS marching band's stellar performance at the Colorado West band competition over the weekend.

MCA is back* — MCSD school board approves charter's application, with a list of conditions

The charter application submitted by Montrose Classical Academy has been approved, with conditions, by the Montrose County School District Board of Education after an appeal process of its initial rejections resulted in the Colorado Board of Education kicking the application back to the local board for reconsideration.
While the approval of the application was unanimous during the board's Sept. 23 vote, it certainly wasn't without contention.
MCSD school board President Sarah Fishering said she had "significant concerns" about moving the application forward, and complained about what she described as a "completely broken" appeal process.

Suspected driver charged in hit-and-run that sent man known for carrying a cross to the hospital; County commissioner pushes false narrative that crash was intentional act of violence by 'radical, insane, liberal Left'

Authorities have identified the suspected driver in a hit and run incident last week that put a man known for carrying a cross along the roadside in the hospital.
The notion that Keenan was hit intentionally and because of his religious beliefs — a notion not based on any evidence — has emerged in the wake of this incident and was most prominently amplified by Montrose County Commissioner Sean Pond online in a Reel, where he twisted this idea further and told people that the incident wasn't "random" and was the fault of the "radical, insane, liberal Left."
