Yesterday was the busiest Wednesday I've had in awhile But I definitely Don't mind. On Wednesdays we put together the Outdoors section, and this week we had so much content it was hard to squeeze it all in. It's a great problem to have. And, iot will be a pretty diverse section too, with something for everyone. One of the most exciting things I'm happy to report on is the return of Mountain Trip's free climbing clinics, which will take place in Ouray and Telluride over the next three Mondays. Rock climbing can be a tough sport to get into, especially as you usually need a partner to climb with. And, in order to do it safely, you don't just need to know how to climb and belay, but how to set up the whole top-roped system. Luckily, Mountain Trip takes the pressure off that in these clinics by setting up the top ropes for you and stationing guides to help individuals improve whatever they're working on. If you know a little about the sport, and have you're own gear, they're a great opportunity to meet some climbing buddies and bring your skills to the next level. Closer to town, we'll also have previews of Bike to Work Day on Wednesday and the Black Canyon Triathlon next Saturday. And, since I need no excuse at all to go hang out at a skatepark, we'll have lots of pictures of the first ever Wild West Skate Fest in Grand Junction. It took place on Sunday, after rain forced organizers to postpone the competition from the planned date of Saturday the 13, and it was awesome to watch those guys and girls shred. Finally, speaking of awesome things, it's once again that time for our Best of the Valley awards. You guys have already submitted your favorite local businesses, organizations and more, and now it's time to vote. So, do your favorite spot a solid and make your voice count! Cheers, Kylea from the newsroom |
