Back down to Earth Are Mondays bummers? It depends on how you look at it — you can be sad all the weekend R&R is behind you ... or you can let the good memories of it keep you happy! Sure, I regret my weekend is gone (how do they fly by so fast?!), but I don't regret things like visiting the Colorado Tribute to Aviation and taking a gander at all the aircraft, including the Lockheed Constellation VC-121A Bataan, gorgeously restored by Planes of Fame. What a treat! (Here she is: The VC-121A Bataan at Montrose Regional Airport Sunday. Below, Vida Rose and Miss Mary Sunshine posing with the propeller.) From the Tribute, I pivoted and went to talk to the folks doing the good work with the Colorado KAT Coalition, which was spay/neutering about 200 cats with Dr. Jeff Young (the "Rocky Mountain Vet") and three other veterinarians, including Dr. Rachel Nichols of Ridgway Animal Hospital. Dr. Jeff pointed out that: cats are prolific breeders (more than 45 times as fecund as we are), capable of producing 2.3 litters per year, with 4.2 kittens per litter. Which, as he said, means "You can't adopt your way out of this." So, folks - as the late Bob Barker often reminded: Spay and neuter your pets.
