ImageA SURPRISE: Imagine you are finishing up another normal workday when suddenly the roof falls down. OK, maybe not the entire roof, but for employees at the Montrose County Clerk and Recorder's office, that's what happened on July 24 when a 4-by-10-foot section of ceiling fell in. Areas of the building are closed off now for renovations.

THE COLORADO BUREAU of Investigation will not be taking up a criminal investigation into the conflict between Montrose former mayor Dave Bowman, head of the Montrose Summer Music Series, and Janece Culver, owner of the Divot's restaurant on the city-owned Black Canyon Golf Course.

BLACK FRIDAY: On July 31, 1987, a deadly F4 tornado tore through Edmonton, Alberta, killing 27 and leaving hundreds wounded.
