LOCAL LEGISLATORS warn citizens the cuts are coming as the result of the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as declining oil and gas revenue.
Lawmakers in June already trimmed the Fiscal Year 2021 budget to about $30 billion, with a slim 2.86% general fund reserve, The Colorado Sun reported. (Fiscal year 2021 began July 1.)
"But my main concern is, what about next year?" Sen. Don Coram, a Montrose Republican, said earlier in the week, during a legislative update for Montrose constituents.

COWBOYS and cowgirls appeared in America's heartland and the wild west shortly after the Civil War. They were largely ranchers and ranch hands and today, July 25, celebrates them. National Day of the Cowboy was created in 2005 and is observed the fourth Saturday of July.

HABITAT FOR HUMANITY completed its 56th home, located at 40 Bluegrass Court in Montrose and now the Mascarenes are making final preparations to move into their home.
A dream of sitting at the dinner table with their family for a meal will soon be a reality for Les and Katy Mascarenes as they take ownership of their new home, through the homeownership program with Habitat for Humanity of the San Juans.
