HAPPY HALLOWEEN! The day is finally here for trick-or-treaters to take to the streets in their costumes. But what if you still haven't picked out a costume for Halloween? Don't worry, here are some tips on last-minute costumes.

SNOW WHITE: Montrose County School District Superintendent Carrie Stephenson dressed up as Snow White for Halloween Friday, Oct. 30 for Halloween festivities around the district. During her visit to Olathe Elementary School, student Claire Nicolas gave Snow White (Stephenson) an apple. Early Childhood Center students also dressed up and went trick-or-treating Friday.

Image ImageGOTTA USE UP ALL OF THESE: Halloween shots just don't pack the same punch in November so this is the last chance to get them in front of you. This is from Steve
Piepmeier, who submitted it to our sister paper the Green Valley News. I bet he thinks it looks like a ghost. I think it looks like a jackrabbit.

THURSDAY THROWBACK: On Thursday, Nov. 7, 2013, the Montrose Daily Press ran a story about a local Vietnam veteran who said the local Elks Lodge was banning him from the property for an attempted murder conviction from decades ago.

VOIDED PLAN? Conservation groups that previously sued over the updated resource management plan for the Uncompahgre Field Office of the Bureau of Land Management now contend the plan is void, because at the time of its approval, William Perry Pendley was illegally exercising the authority of the BLM's acting director.
Citizens for a Health Community based in Paonia, along with High Country Conservation Advocates, the Center for Biological Diversity, the Sierra Club, Western Watersheds Project and WildEarth Guardians on Tuesday amended their previous suit challenging the resource management plan, or RMP.
