Well, if you're like me and still haven't bought your Halloween candy for trick-or-treaters, this data of top candies by U.S. state might help you make a decision that your trick-or-treaters will love. VOTERS: With less than a week left before the General Election, ballots are flowing into the Montrose County Clerk and Recorder's Office at a steady clip. "We're over 50% (return rate)," Montrose County Clerk Tressa Guynes said. Ballots went out to 29,070 eligible electors. "We're thrilled to get it; the sooner the better. We're expecting and prepared for up to 90% (turnout)," she said. Statewide, more than 1.7 million ballots had been returned as of 11:30 p.m. Monday. As of that time, the count for Montrose returns was 14,302, but more have come in since Monday night, pushing the totals to above 50%. Have you voted? Either way, read how Amendment B could impact Montrose. ON SCENE: First responders are the men and women who come running to their community's rescue during crashes, fires and other emergency situations. National First Responders Day, Oct. 28 honors these heroic personnel who make it their duty to show up when disaster strikes. Here's a story the Montrose Daily Press wrote from 2017 about a Montrose church giving back to local first responders. Don't forget to show your appreciation for our local firefighters, police officers, EMTs and those who arrive first on the scene.
