AND THE WINNER IS...747: Fat Bear Week 2020 is in the books and a new king of a chunky voluminous visage has been crowned. 747 shares his identification with a jet airplane and has grown to become one of the most dominant bears at Brooks Falls.
The Montrose Daily Press editorial team had a Fat Bear Week competition where we filled out the brackets and voted for our favorite. But only one person had the strongest bracket and became the victor. Congratulations to Josue Perez, victor of 2020 Fat Bear Week.

TIME CAPSULE UNEARTHED: Members of the public and Montrose City Council gathered at Centennial Plaza Tuesday to unearth a historic city time capsule from 1970, buried to commemorate the installation of the USS Montrose's ship bell in town. The time capsule was a community effort to capture a monumental year for the City of Montrose.

FRESH START: Clinging to life after weeks of financial hardship, the future of 970 Sports Rewind in Montrose looked bleak. After reopening in May, following three months of closure, the business was pulling in around $12 daily. Located at 614 E. Main St., foot traffic was all but nonexistent, something several downtown businesses experienced during the summer months.
