ImageSCARY FUN IN MONTROSE: Halloween is quickly creeping in on Montrose, and businesses are ready to celebrate with both family fun and adult festivities. From Trunk or Treats and dances to after dark parties, there's fun for everyone.

THURSDAY THROWBACK: On Thursday, Nov. 7, 2013, the Montrose Daily Press ran a story about a local Vietnam veteran who said the local Elks Lodge was banning him from the property for an attempted murder conviction from decades ago.

VOIDED PLAN? Conservation groups that previously sued over the updated resource management plan for the Uncompahgre Field Office of the Bureau of Land Management now contend the plan is void, because at the time of its approval, William Perry Pendley was illegally exercising the authority of the BLM's acting director.
Citizens for a Health Community based in Paonia, along with High Country Conservation Advocates, the Center for Biological Diversity, the Sierra Club, Western Watersheds Project and WildEarth Guardians on Tuesday amended their previous suit challenging the resource management plan, or RMP.
