COVID-19 OUTBREAK SITES: Calvary Chapel Church is the latest establishment in Montrose to be named a COVID-19 outbreak site.
According to the Colorado Department of Public Health, the church at 2201 S. Townsend Ste. D was determined an outbreak site on Oct. 12, with a total of 10 positive cases.
CDPHE also reported Touch of Care in Montrose was also recently listed as an outbreak site with two positive cases among staff.
An outbreak is defined as two or more confirmed COVID-19 cases in a facility within 14 days.

BALLOTS: The Montrose Voter Service Polling Center is now open at the Old Courthouse and ballots have been mailed to all active, registered voters in Montrose County. But if you haven't registered, there's still time.
Monday, Oct. 26 is the last day for a voter to request a ballot to be mailed to them.
Election day is Tuesday, Nov. 3 and the voter service polling centers will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

U.S. 50 CLOSURE: Gov. Jared Polis recently sent a letter asking the Federal Highway Administration and U.S. Department of Transportation, which are spearheading the Little Blue Creek project, to make sure the contractor works with the state to minimize full closures. He also asked they fully evaluate how such strategies as night closures for the necessary blasting may be safely done.
